Sangyo Sosei Advisory commences operations

Sangyo Sosei Advisory Inc.
Veteran investment bankers eye revitalization of Japan's TMT sectors

【Tokyo, December 15, 2009】 Sangyo Sosei Advisory Inc., a new M&A and corporate advisory firm focused on the technology, media and telecommunications (TMT) sectors, today announced the launch of operations and plans to support revitalization of the industry in Japan. The firm will be led by founders Fumiaki Sato, previously Vice Chairman of Merrill Lynch Japan Securities Co. Ltd. and a long-time leading electronics analyst, Atsushi Abe, formerly Japan head of Unitas Capital (previously known as CCMP Capital Asia), and Gary Chan, ex-Managing Director of UBS Securities Japan Ltd.

The pace of reform in many industries is accelerating, in part as a consequence of the global financial crisis, and with it the need for Japan to maintain and strengthen its technological competitive advantage has become ever more pressing. Despite Japan's accumulated technological capabilities and intellectual capital, the country has recently struggled to maximize its potential. Sangyo Sosei Advisory has been established with the aim of revitalizing TMT industries in Japan and strengthening global competitiveness, by supporting resource reallocation and structural reform efforts.
